How might we, as Tangata Tiriti, provide an experience for South Asian women in the workplace to strengthen their connection to Aotearoa and themselves to create a stronger sense of belonging and identity?

South Asian women in the workplace can often struggle with grasping their own identity outside of their work and socio-cultural expectations which can, in turn, cause them to be lacking a sense of belonging unrelated to what they do for others.  As a NZ-born woman of South Asian descent, this problem deeply resonates with me. This project aims to help these women gain a stronger sense of belonging and identity by strengthening their connection to themselves and Aotearoa as Tangata Tiriti.

This project contains a series of workshops, including workshop resources, where South Asian women can learn, grow and bond over shared experiences together to not only become more confident individuals but also form a community. It will be marketed towards DEI professionals in the workplace through a digital and physical campaign to encourage them to provide their employees with the opportunity to attend these and feel more valued, empowered, and supported.
