iConnect is an augmented reality (AR) mobile application designed to alleviate the sense of isolation many people experience when moving to unfamiliar cities. The app bridges the gap between individuals and their environment by enhancing auditory and visual interactions with their surroundings.
Problem statement:
How might we use AR technology to enhance audiovisual experiences in order to increase people's sense of belonging that can alleviate loneliness?
Objectives and Goals:
The key goal of the project is to design an AR-based mobile application that allows users to document and connect with places through visual, auditory, and interactive features. By enabling users to create personal memory maps and share experiences within a community, the app promotes a deeper emotional connection to the physical world while alleviating loneliness.

How does iConnect alleviate loneliness？
- Enhanced Connection with Surroundings: iConnect uses augmented reality (AR) to help users feel more connected to their environment by turning ordinary places into spaces rich with personal memories and shared experiences.
- Dynamic Memory Mapping: Users can create a personal map of memorable moments by recording visual and auditory experiences linked to specific locations. This feature fosters a deeper sense of belonging and attachment to new and unfamiliar places.
- Shared Experiences with Friends: iConnect allows users to co-create maps with friends, helping to build a network of shared memories and enhancing emotional bonds not only with the location but also with the people who matter most.
- Alleviation of Loneliness through Exploration: By encouraging users to explore and document their surroundings, iConnect helps ease feelings of loneliness and disconnection, making the journey of settling into a new place more enjoyable and meaningful.
