Summary

Cultural ties is an online NFT marketplace platform. The platform aims to combat cultural appropriation of Māori and Pacific cultures within Aotearoa's fashion industry. In doing so, the project provides an avenue where individuals and communities can create and collaborate with 'fashion' outlets to produce correct and appropriate cultural portrayals.

This project aims to develop a solution that addresses cultural appropriation with the DEI focused on Age, Race and Ethnicity. The 'Cultural ties' project highlights the aspects of cultural appropriation within the fashion industry and indicates the areas in which the solution will flourish. The platform's collaboration and knowledge growth between cultural communities and individuals/businesses will result in cultures being portrayed correctly.
