The name of the project is "XinD", short for "Sanxingdui." I designed a board game with the theme of China's "Sanxingdui" for children over eight years old in New Zealand. It is a Chinese culture game that has added the gameplay of exchanging national culture, allowing children to communicate with each other and promoting friendship between countries. This board game is designed to entertain and teach children to play and learn; enhance their social, learning, and communication skills; stimulate their interest in education; and improve their cultural awareness. "Sanxingdui" is located in Sichuan Province, China. It has a cultural history of 3000–5000 years.
"Sanxingdui" is mainly composed of bronze cultural relics. Each artifact has a unique role. I chose the five most representative artifacts and designed them for my board game, including Bronze Dali Man, Bronze Mask, Bronze Divine Bird, Sun Gear, and Bronze Sacred Tree. These five bronze artifacts have exceptional gameplay in the board game. The purpose of designing this game is to let local children learn about Chinese culture and make Chinese children feel a sense of belonging in New Zealand. There will be more and more Chinese children aged eight to 12 living in New Zealand. Some primary schools teach Chinese culture, language, and other knowledge, but this is relatively limited. I hope that through this board game, children will be more interested in Chinese culture. In the play process, players share their country's culture, which allows children to feel the value of different cultures. Through cultural exchange, children can better appreciate, respect, and treat other people as equals. In the process of learning, children can understand Chinese culture and also learn the cultural characteristics of different countries from an early age to develop an accurate worldview. They gain richer insights and learn to appreciate and understand cultural diversity while learning new languages, cultures, and local heritage.
