Tokenism is a prevalent issue in today's society, especially in the workplace, where companies are constantly pressured by the public and social pressures to have a diverse working team or to include Māori values in their workspace. Tokenism can occur in any workplace (especially starting with the recruitment process), whether purposefully or from ignorance. The ones who are in the positions of tokenism tend to feel more stressed, isolated, and have self-confidence issues.

This introduces us to the system of TOKEN. TOKEN is a system where new employees will grab a TOKEN and then scan the QR code, leading to a weekly self-reflection question (through the app) for them to understand themselves and their identity within the workplace. The system is built based on education, relationships, identity and awareness. It ensures that the employees are aware not to get themselves into situations of tokenism.
