An inclusive workplace is crucial for success in today’s rapidly changing world. Creating work environments that foster inclusivity and diversity is not just a moral imperative; it also leads to better business outcomes. Women’s perspectives and experiences of inclusivity within their workplaces are crucial but often underrepresented. This capstone project addresses the challenge of empowering women to voice their thoughts on inclusivity within their professional environment.

The project proposes a possible solution, Shimmher, an innovative application designed to encourage women to anonymously express their feelings about inclusivity at their workplace. The app analyses this anonymous input, transforming it into insightful statistics displayed on a piece of wall decor within the workplace. This wall decor aims to raise awareness among coworkers and encourage them to be more mindful of inclusivity, ultimately fostering a more inclusive work environment. The Shimmher app and its associated wall decor have the potential to empower women, enhance workplace inclusivity, and drive meaningful organisational change.

The application is visualised to operate through a user-friendly interface, prompting individuals to choose from three options: whether they felt included in their workplace, experienced a sense of exclusion, or remained neutral. Users will also have the opportunity to provide explanations for their chosen response, enabling the collection of valuable data that can shed light on recurring patterns. Furthermore, the app will feature an anonymous chat thread, fostering an environment where users can openly express their emotions and connect with others.

Complementing the application is incorporating a wall light decoration to display in the workplace. The decoration will consist of an array of hexagons, each capable of illuminating in response to the data collected from the submission app. These hexagons will light up per the percentage of women who feel included, excluded, or remain neutral within their company's work environment.
