New Zealand is a significant exporter of high-value honey; bees are the primary pollinators of many essential food crops. Due to the invasion of alien species (varroa mites), humans are forced to use pesticides and other toxic chemicals to kill them. Substantial amounts of chemicals are scattered on plants and airborne. Bees face a severe survival crisis in New Zealand, especially in Auckland, as they eat chemical-laced food and breathe toxic gases. If the survival crisis of bees is not resolved in time, it will directly threaten human food production and quality, biodiversity, and plant diversity. Therefore, it is urgent to help bees solve their survival crisis.

This project uses landscape design and the double diamond design framework to address the sustainable coexistence of humans and bees. Fraser Park (Parnell, Auckland 1052) was used as the design location to create a park suitable for bees' survival and human activities. The park includes activity venues for children, adults, and the elderly, and provides habitats for bees in each functional area.
