In a world striving for gender equality in the workforce, it is imperative to address systemic challenges everyone faces in the recruitment process. The Empower Recruitment App is a game-changing solution that seeks to level the playing field for job seekers by mitigating the impacts of gender stereotypes in the recruitment process. It empowers everyone and other marginalised groups while also benefiting organisations through a more diverse and inclusive workforce. In an era where diversity and inclusion are crucial for success, this app is poised to make a significant and positive impact on the job market, promoting equal opportunities for all.
Problem Statement
- According to the NZ Herald, it has been stated in an article by Julia Gabel and Chris Knox where gender diversity is getting worse in NZ. Only 10% of kiwis are part of a workforce that is gender-balanced, a Herald analysis of Census data shows. From 2006, 2013 and 2018 Herald has used census data to understand how the gender makeup of the country’s workforce has changed overtime.
- Over the past 12 years there has been small or no improvements in gender diversity across a range of professions. Director of AUT’s NZ work research Professor Gail Pacheco said “gender and ethnic diversity is important…When a greater variety of occupations are more accessible to women and non-Europeans, this improves the allocation of talent, resulting in improvements in productivity.”
Solution
- The primary objective is to empower everyone with the tools, resources and support they need to navigate the recruitment process successfully and reach their career aspirations. This includes helping them build confidence, enhance their skills and make informed career decisions
- By creating an app it aims to reduce the influence of gender stereotypes in recruitment by empowering all and giving everyone the opportunity by rating, helping to change your workplace. Using these ratings to help others make smarter decisions and help companies better understand how to retain top talent. This app will also help them find opportunities and companies that have what they are looking for, whether it is flexibility to work, salary satisfaction, mentorship, wellness initiatives and more.
How might we create a recruitment process that empowers all and supports women, while mitigating the impacts of gender stereotypes, fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce?
