Sprout is a 4-week learning experience which aims to support youth to develop versatile soft skills and make positive impacts in their communities.
With the world’s rapidly changing landscapes, there is a need for youth to have the skills of greater collaboration, criticality and adaptability. The Sprout Programme addresses the soft skill gap in education and re-imagines learning using gamification and value-driven education.
Sprout revolves around six main modules called seeds. These are Growth, Sustainability, Diversity, Collaboration, Creativity and Challenge.
For each of these seeds, students will accomplish a series of tasks and workshops to achieve a card collectable for the given seed. In their journey, students will embark on a project focused on their local communities, for which they will collaborate with their teams to identify a problem and produce a solution. Sprout workshops use a combination of learning modes and practical activities to facilitate better engagement and understanding of the topics.
Additionally, students will be given a Student Guide journal covering key insights, helpful tips, and workshop overviews to assist them on their journey and enable them to bring their learnings home.
Furthermore, this project is designed to accommodate students' needs and provide them with a memorable experience. The programme weaves in Te Whare Tapa Whā to take care of students' overall wellbeing with a focus on taha hinengaro (mental wellbeing), taha whānau (social wellbeing) and taha whenua (wellbeing of the land) through its short days, meditation sessions, mentor check-ins, activity nights and sustainability field trips.
This project aims to inspire long-term change by strengthening the roots of our society: the people, what we value, how we work with each other, and foster unity toward the world's challenges.
