Pop-In
Partner: Resilio Studio & Waitematā Local Board

Pop-In aims to reactivate and improve the Tamaki Makaurau CBD’s built environment through the creation of temporary pop-up events. The Tamaki Makaurau Central Business District (CBD) serves as a vibrant centre of commerce, culture, and community, reflecting the rich diversity of Aotearoa. However, despite recent modernisation efforts, challenges related to social sustainability remain. The project explores the interaction between humans and their surroundings and examines practices for sustainable urban development. In partnership with the Waitemata Local Board, the project follows the values and principles of Te Ara Kotahi, focusing on inclusivity, mutual respect, and ecological responsibility. More effort should be made towards bettering the use of existing public spaces to create an environment that is welcoming and safe for everyone in the Tamaki Makaurau CBD. Pop-In will host a variety of events open to the public, including celebrating traditional cultures and pop cultures and providing opportunities for young people to explore and develop their creative interests.
