"How might we foster the mental wellness of international and domestic New Zealand uni students by improving interactions using VR?"

Artsy InterVision is a virtual environment that fosters international and domestic student interaction.

The experience is to help improve the mental well-being of international (and domestic) students experiencing stress, specifically loneliness. The artwork and drawing abilities provided encourage students to self-express by communicating through what they draw.

Some of the student's artwork

To enhance the experience, students can include brief reflective writing about their artwork and display it in the virtual world or discuss it in person. The artwork is there to help other students feel safe to share their experiences with others, helping them and others empathise and repeat the action.

Students interact in the virtual space.

The virtual space helps international (and domestic) students develop comfort in an environment, improving and simplifying their experiences of connecting with the new environment (university) and socialising with people (students).
